Helen Nugent

Helen is contributing the chapter on Lay Witness Evidence to Binghams’ Personal Injury and Motor Claims Cases (2023).

A pragmatic common law practitioner and linguist, Helen acts for both claimants and defendants in high value, complex clinical negligence and personal injury litigation and motor fraud.

She has a wealth of experience as a trial advocate in the County, Crown, Magistrates’, and Youth Courts; and she regularly represents families at inquests involving clinical negligence matters.

She has deployed her language skills in multi-party actions, involving cross-border and jurisdictional issues in Peru and Cote d’Ivoire; and she was previously selected by the Bar Council to work with law firms in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Helen is a contributor to the PI Brief Update newsletter. She frequently provides in-house seminars on a variety of topics, including, fundamental dishonesty and the use of the Rehabilitation Code.
