Joanna Hughes

Joanna is contributing the sections on costs and funding arrangements to Binghams’ Personal Injury and Motor Claims Cases (2023).

She has been practising in civil law for the past fifteen years having completed her pupillage at Temple Garden Chambers in 2008. Her primary area of practice is personal injury, where she has developed a particular specialism in chronic pain cases. She has a fairly even split between claimant and defendant work.

Alongside personal injury, she has always had an interest in costs, particularly since her trip to the Court of Appeal in early 2013 in the Henry v News Group Newspapers case, which was one of the first to consider the (then) new rules concerning costs budgets.
