Chris Coulston

Chris is a chartered tax adviser with 15 years of experience. He leads Deloitte's pensions advisory tax team and specialises in the provision of tax advice to pension funds and employers and in the establishment of tax efficient investment structures for investment managers.

He has significant experience of providing innovative solutions for the pensions industry, including advising multinationals and custodians on pension pooling vehicles, and has led a large number of asset-backed funding (ABC) structure implementations to help companies and trustees address the funding of pension scheme deficits in an efficient manner, ranging from large FTSE 100 groups to privately owned and international businesses.

Chris also advises on pensions tax issues in M&A transactions, such as deficit for equity swaps with sponsors, buy-outs and buy-ins and asset structuring and transfers (including real estate, businesses and PFI assets). This specialism is complemented by Chris's strong experience of advising real estate investors and funds on tax efficient structures.
