Mark Anderson is an English solicitor (attorney) and Managing Partner of Anderson Law LLP. Mark founded the firm's predecessor, Anderson & Company, in 1994.
Mark is recommended in Chambers UK as a leading UK lawyer in the field of life science transactions, and Chambers separately recommends him for his services in the field of intellectual property. Mark drafts, negotiates and advises on commercial agreements, particularly those that concern intellectual property rights or research and development. He also advises more generally on business law issues, involving specialists (for example, trial advocates, patent attorneys, etc.) as appropriate. He has extensive experience of advising clients in various technology sectors, including life sciences, information and communications technology, and engineering. Mark also has experience of advising clients in non-technology sectors, particularly those where intellectual property can be important, including publishing, financial services and fast-moving consumer goods ('FMCG').
Mark's clients include commercial companies (both publicly-quoted and private companies, including small and medium enterprises ('SMEs'), professional service firms (including overseas law firms), universities, hospitals and other charities, funding bodies, investors, and individual inventors and entrepreneurs. His clients are based mostly in England and Wales, but also in Continental Europe, North America and Australasia.
In addition to advising clients, Mark accepts instructions as an arbitrator or mediator of intellectual property disputes, including disputes concerning the interpretation or performance of intellectual property-related contracts. He is accredited as an arbitrator by the WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organisation) Arbitration and Mediation Center.
Speaking engagements and publications
Mark regularly speaks at conferences in Europe on intellectual property and commercial law subjects, including contract drafting. He is a guest lecturer at the London Business School and a visiting lecturer at the Faculty of Laws of University College London, where he is the course director of a five-day course on intellectual property transactions designed for newly qualified intellectual property lawyers.
Together with other members of Anderson Law LLP, Mark is the author of several legal textbooks, loose-leaf works and publications in the areas of intellectual property and commercial law. He is a contributor to Volumes 4(3) Boilerplate and Commercial Clauses; 7(2) Commercial Contracts and Other Documents; 12(1)B Contracts for Services; 21(1) Intellectual Property; and 32 Research and Development of the Encyclopaedia of Forms and Precedents.
