Fred Butler#12120

Fred Butler

Fred joined the Butler & Co tax team in 2012 and has progressed to the role of Tax Director in the Farm and Equine Department. Fred is a member of the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) and holds a Master’s Degree from the University of Bristol..

Working in the Farm & Equine department allows Fred to draw on a rich background of personal experience, having grown up surrounded by horses on the family farm. He continues to ride and remains heavily involved in the equine and farming industries at a personal level. This allows Fred to bring real life experience to the tax issues faced by his clients, and apply a level of knowledge and understanding that can sometimes be difficult to find in a mainstream accountancy practice.
Fred has become a specialist adviser focusing primarily on inheritance tax and capital gains tax for rural clients and other professional firms, both lawyers and accountants that do not have their own in-house experts in this complex area, with an additional focus on probate matters and deceased estates.
In addition, Fred has developed a specialism in structuring equine businesses for maximum tax efficiency and works as part of a dedicated enquiry team with a focus on inheritance tax mitigation.
Fred is regularly published in both Taxation and Tax Adviser along with various legal publications.
