Rachael is a professional support consultant in the Finance division at Herbert Smith Freehills. She provides technical advice, drafts model form documentation, analyses legal developments, drafts client briefings and delivers training on banking law.

Rachael started her legal career in-house before joining Herbert Smith Freehills as an associate. There she gained extensive experience advising a range of lender and borrower clients on diverse finance transactions, particularly in real estate finance and general banking. Several years later, she decided to become a professional support lawyer, a position which she still enjoys today.

Between 2008 and April 2023, Rachael acted as secretary to the City of London Law Society Financial Law Committee, which considers wide-ranging legal issues relevant to the financial markets. 

Rachael’s experience includes:

• helping to develop industry guidance on the execution of documents, both virtually and electronically;
• helping to draft industry guidance on issuing legal opinions in relation to banking transactions;
• drafting procedural guides and finance model form documentation;
• writing and delivering training on banking law and execution of documents;
• focusing on legal technology, including document automation.
