William Arrenberg
William Arrenberg is a Partner in the Tax department at Herbert Smith Freehills LLP and offers broad expertise in corporate tax and structuring. This includes domestic and cross-border tax planning and structuring, reorganisations, and asset and share acquisitions and disposals.
William regularly advises clients in the energy sector, and provides tax advice on high-value structured real estate and infrastructure transactions. He works with major international corporations including:

After training at Herbert Smith, William qualified to join the Tax department in 2002. The numerous high-profile matters he has advised on include multibillion-pound acquisitions, disposals and takeovers.

- Apache Corporation on its US$1.7 billion acquisition of North Sea assets from ExxonMobil
- Bharti Airtel on its US$10.7 billion acquisition of Zain's 15 African mobile networks
- Chevron on the US$1.8 billion disposal of UK and European downstream businesses to Valero
- Ernst & Young as administrators of Nortel entities on the administration of significant parts of the Nortel group, and sale of various businesses and assets in multiple jurisdictions
- Warner Bros on its £99.9m takeover bid for Shed Media
