Andrew Barber
Andrew is a partner in Dentons' London office. He is a member of the Regulatory & Investigations team with a broad range of expertise across the UK's regulation of retail financial services and FinTech. His experience focuses on payment services, retail banking, consumer credit, mortgages and financial crime prevention.
Andrew supports on the set-up of financial services business in the UK, including advice on the regulatory perimeter and the authorisations process with the Financial Conduct Authority. He also advises on the development of new products and services, distribution, compliance and governance, and the implementation of regulatory change such as the Consumer Duty and the Senior Managers and Certification Regime.
Andrew has worked with a range of clients on strategically important matters such as group reorganisations, large-scale remediation projects in the consumer credit market, material outsourcings and providing advisory support on regulatory investigations. He has also been involved in advising on a range of issues around ongoing access to cash for both retail and small business customers.
Andrew has also led both the unsecured consumer credit working group on the implementation of the Consumer Duty and the mortgages working group on LIBOR transition for a UK industry association.
His clients include a wide range of regulated firms including banks, insurers, consumer credit firms, payment firms, e-money issuers mortgage providers and FinTechs.
Andrew was also admitted to practice as a barrister and solicitor in South Australia in 2001.
