Jonathan Lennon

Jonathan has been involved in some of the country's largest and most complex fraud and financial crime cases, including the UK's largest mortgage fraud (R v Purdie). He is on the CPS Specialist Fraud and POCA Panels, the Executive Committee of the Proceeds of Crime Lawyers Association and regularly gives seminars and writes articles on financial crime. Jonathan is instructed by both defence solicitors and prosecution agencies and in recent years has been in particular demand giving advice and/or representing professionals.

Jonathan is becoming to the 'go to' junior for heavyweight complex fraud work and POCA related cases. In recent years he has acted for a legal professional charged with money laundering, book-keepers and accountants charged with tax fraud, lead for the principal defendant in a major SFO boiler-room fraud, acted for a director of a pension trustee company charged with pension fraud and for a mortgage broker charged with what is reputed to be Britain's biggest ever mortgage fraud. In 2017 he defended Professor Ian Swingland OBE in the case linked to Operation Amazon ' carbon credit tax fraud and defended in 4 High Court civil recovery cases.

Jonathan, also brought the landmark case in the High Court which changed the law on cash forfeiture: Angus v UKBA and also acted in the seminal case on disclosure and PII: R v H & C. He is often instructed in cases where there is a challenge to Search Warrants or Production Orders.
