Kevin McLoughlin
Kevin McLoughlin is a barrister practising from Temple Garden Chambers, London, specialising in Inquests, personal injury work and health & safety law. He offers 30 years' experience in relation to Coroner's Inquests, both as an advocate and latterly as an Assistant Coroner.
He sits regularly in four coronial jurisdictions and has a particular interest in workplace fatalities, hospital deaths and Article 2 ECHR cases. His health & safety practice has multiple facets and is bolstered by his qualification as a Chartered Safety Practitioner (CMIOSH). One aspect of this is the defence of companies and managers prosecuted by HSE, although he also undertakes some prosecution work on behalf of local authorities.
Kevin has been instructed by organisations to conduct internal investigations in the aftermath of adverse events. His advisory work entails training for directors and advice on enhancing health and safety systems and insurance programmes.
Before transferring to the Bar, Kevin was, for many years, a solicitor and the national head partner of DLA Piper's Insurance, Marine & Aviation Group. In the early part of his career he was a university law lecturer. He is a member of the Attorney-General's panel of counsel and thus acts for a broad range of government agencies.
