Michael O'Connor
Michael O'Connor is a partner at Addleshaw Goddard, where he is head of the infrastructure, projects and energy practice and national head of the government, energy and infrastructure market sector.
He joined Addleshaw Sons & Latham as a trainee in 1987, qualifying as a solicitor in 1989. From 1989-90 he was seconded to Tootal Group plc as sole in-house counsel, reporting to the group company secretary. He established the firm's PFI practice in 1994, becoming a partner in 1996, and he was appointed head of the projects team at Addleshaw Booth following the merger between Addleshaw Sons & Latham and Booth & Co. in 1997.
Michael was appointed to the divisional board of Addleshaw Booth in 1998 and as national head of the projects team at Addleshaw Goddard in 2003, when Addleshaw Booth merged with Theodore Goddard. In 2003 he was appointed to the divisional board of the finance and projects group, becoming head of the government, energy and infrastructure sector focus group in 2009.
Notable transactions that he has worked on recently include the £750 million project financing of Greater Manchester Waste PPP, the £350 million project financing of Lancashire Waste PFI, the £350 million PPP at St Helens and Whiston Hospitals and the £350 million Evergreen 3 Chiltern Rail Line speed improvements.
