Charles Raffin
Charles specialises in commercial dispute resolution (including insolvency, professional negligence and construction related proceedings) and has a particular interest in domestic and international arbitration.
Before joining Hardwicke, Charles spent almost three years as an employed barrister in the International Arbitration and Litigation Group of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom (UK) LLP. Recently, Charles spent a part-time secondment with world leading litigation funders, Harbour Litigation Funding Ltd.
Charles works and advises frequently across a range of non-contentious and contentious matters (including urgent injunctive work) in arbitration and litigation in this and foreign jurisdictions. Charles works regularly on complex international matters (including trusts/breach of fiduciary duty claims) with Counsel from jurisdictions across North and South America, the Caribbean and Europe.
Charles has a wealth of experience of working with clients, within a Firm team, and of case management (including electronic data management and the preparation of witness evidence) in document heavy cases of the highest value.
Charles speaks in-house regularly, with recent topics including applications for security for costs and the enforcement of judgments and awards in litigation, arbitration and construction adjudication. Charles is joint editor of Hardwicke's Insolvency Newsletter.
Charles is a committed supporter of pro-bono work and speaks to groups of students of different ages and backgrounds about pursuing careers in the law.
