Neil Swift

Neil Swift is a partner at Peters & Peters. He joined in 1997, qualifying in 1999. He became a partner in the Business Crime Team in 2010. He has a broad range of experience in the business crime arena. He has advised corporate and individual clients in respect of investigations brought by all major UK law enforcement agencies, and has advised and represented overseas regulators in relation to UK criminal process. His practice encompasses cartel investigations, confiscation and the proceeds of crime, corruption, extradition, Financial Conduct Authority investigations, fraud, money laundering, mutual legal assistance and tax delinquency. He frequently advises clients faced with international multi-jurisdictional problems. Although much of Neil's work is advisory, high profile cases include: acting for the Australian Securities and Investment Commission in evidence gathering proceedings (MLA and Judicial Review); representing Optigen and Fulcrum in both domestic proceedings and before the ECJ in Luxembourg; representing one of the first three individuals prosecuted for the cartel offence under the Enterprise Act 2002 (the 'Marine Hose' cartel); acting for a large multi-national being investigated for corruption domestically by the SFO and internationally by, amongst others, the US, Switzerland and France; representing David Turner, a director of Innospec, in a prosecution brought by the SFO. He is a regular speaker on corruption, fraud and corporate criminal liability both here and overseas. He is a co-author of Getting the Deal Through ' Anti Corruption Regulation, and a contributing author of Blackstone's Guide to The Bribery Act (OUP). Neil is rated highly in the legal directories, described as 'clever and polished' by Legal 500 (2014) and 'undoubtedly top-tier' boasting 'superb knowledge across the full spectrum of white collar crime' by Who's Who Legal Business Crime Defence (2014).
