Marian Bloodworth
Marian is a partner in the employment team, advising commercial clients on a range of employment law issues, including general day-to-day advisory work, disciplinary and grievance issues, redundancy and restructuring programmes, diversity and equality matters, senior executive contracts and severance arrangements and team moves.
Marian’s particular expertise is in helping clients in the financial services sector manage their legal risk. She has worked for many years with major international banks, insurers, private equity houses, hedge funds and investment managers. She advises on the employment law implications and challenges of regulatory regime requirements, including the current Approved Persons Regime (APER) and the new Senior Managers regime for banks and insurers (SMCR and SIMR). She also supports the employment aspects of internal and external regulatory investigations including the related disciplinary processes. In particular she has advised on issues arising from whistleblowing allegations and from LIBOR related investigations. She is experienced in managing complex and high value litigation, having conducted a number of multi-strand claims for discrimination and whistleblowing, many of which have involved claims brought by claimants still in employment.
Marian is described in the Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession as ‘an “absolutely excellent” adviser for a range of employment disputes’, and by Legal 500 as “unflappable”.
She has been recognised as a Women In Law 2016 Employment Lawyer, Lawyer Monthly and is a Who's Who Legal Recognised Practitioner for Labour and Employment 2016.
Before joining the firm in 2015, Marian was a partner at Berwin Leighton Paisner.
