Kate Vernon

Kate is a partner at Quinn Emmanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP. She specialises in all aspects of contentious competition law, including OFT and European Commission complaints and investigations, Competition Commission inquiries and litigation in the CAT, The High Court, Court of Appeal, House of Lords and The CFI/ECJ. Kate also advises on behavioural aspects of competition law, compliance and general commercial advice.

Kate advises a number of clients across many diverse industries on the application of competition law and competition enforcement and litigation. In particular, Kate has acted in a number of high profile competition litigation matters including advising the Premier League on its CAT appeal against Ofcom's Pay TV Decision and on the ECJ proceedings in relation to satellite decoder cards. Kate is also advising Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd on its appeal to the General Court against a European Commission cartel fine, and the subsequent damages actions in the UK and the Netherlands.

Kate has also advised on various investigations including advising ISG Plc and two of its subsidiaries on the OFT's construction investigation and its successful appeal to the CAT.

Kate is co-author of a chapter on injunctions and interim measures in Restrictive Covenants under Common and Competition Law (5th Edition, Sweet & Maxwell). She is also a contributor to the Competition Law Association's Response to BIS Consultation on Private Competition Law Actions.
