Nick Wood
Nick is a partner in CMS's real estate team. He trained with Blake Lapthorn, qualifying in 2003, and has ten years' experience as a property litigator. He acts for institutional investors in the real estate sector, including significant pension and real estate funds, as well as major landowners, developers and occupiers, and has particular experience in large redevelopment schemes and strategic site assembly work. His practice encompasses the entire remit of real estate dispute work, including landlord and tenant disputes, rent review, break option and insolvency issues, forfeiture, dilapidations, lease renewals, contractual claims, breach of covenant matters as well as real property disputes.
Nick also has experience of international arbitration involving property-related disputes, and has practised in jurisdictions including Northern Ireland and Turks & Caicos. Nick has appeared in reported cases included (on a contractual dispute for specific performance), Dunnes Stores (Bangor) Limited -v- New River Trustee 11 Limited & New River Trustee 12 Limited [2015] 2631 High Court of Justice Northern Ireland (on injunctive relief and derogation from grant) and Aviva Life & Pensions Limited -v- Kestrel Properties Limited [2011] EWHC 3934 Ch (on overage clauses and jurisdiction of court).
