Victoria Younghusband
Victoria is a corporate lawyer who has focused on the asset management industry and on corporate governance. Although her career has been spent predominantly in London, she worked for more than 4 years in Hong Kong from 1991-1995, where she is admitted as a solicitor.
Victoria acts for asset managers and for investment funds and their directors and, on occasion, their brokers and sponsors on all aspects of their operations from structuring, marketing and distribution, authorisation, listing, restructuring, merger and winding-up. She also advises on financial services and corporate regulatory issues. She advises across all the alternative asset classes and on all types of funds, including authorised and unregulated, open and closed-ended funds, listed and private funds, both offshore and onshore the European Union.
She also acts for asset managers on acquisitions and disposals, often cross-border.
Victoria is also well known for her work in the corporate governance field and has written and spoken extensively on the subject. She has provided technical advice on corporate governance to projects in Vietnam and Sri Lanka supported by Asian Development Bank. She was a member of the UK Government's now disbanded Better Regulation Commission.
She has been amended on working groups of AIMA, the BVCA and the EVCA on various matters including, UCITS and European Commission corporate governance proposals. She is currently leading a working group of the Company Law Committees of the CLLS and the Law Society of England and Wales on the UK transposition of the Market Abuse Regulation.
