Michael Davar
Michael specialises on complex multi-jurisdictional commercial disputes spanning oil & gas, onshore and offshore decommissioning, shipping, commodities and financial industries. He has acted for claimant and respondent parties across the globe in a wide range of commercial arbitration and litigation matters (including under ICC, SIAC, HKIAC, LMAA and GAFTA Rules).
Michael is co-author of the specialist legal volumes International Commercial Arbitration: 21st Century Perspectives, and Oil and Gas Decommissioning: Law Policy and Comparative Practice. His cases Essar Oilfields Services Limited -v- Norscot Rig Management PVT Limited [2016] EQHC 2361 (Comm) and AB Bank Limited, Offshore Banking Unit -v- Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank PJSC [2016] EWHC 2082 (Comm) have set English legal precedent.
Prior to entering the legal industry, Michael worked as an FX and Fixed Income Trader at a hedge fund. He holds degrees in law and economic history and speaks several languages, including Russian and Georgian.
