Tarik Sharif
Tarik specialises in complex cross-jurisdictional and domestic litigation and arbitration, with a particular focus on international commercial arbitration. He has experience acting for clients in a variety of fields including construction, energy and infrastructure, financial services, metals, oil and gas, real estate and telecommunications and has substantial experience of both ad hoc and institutional arbitrations (including LCIA, ICC, DIAC, DIFC-LCIA UNCITRAL and ADCCAC).
His recent highlights include:
• Acting for a high net worth businessman in a US $500m LCIA arbitration with his former business partner.
• Successfully represented a prominent Indian real estate tycoon in a US $400m LCIA arbitration seated in Singapore involving claims for fraud, conspiracy and breaches of fiduciary duty concerning investments in four mixed use real estate developments in India.
• Acted for an energy company in a US $180m ICC arbitration arising out of an LNG tolling contract.
• Assisting on a US $130m LCIA arbitration arising out of an agreement between two Russian Oligarchs to grant share options in a Russian mining company.
• Successfully acting for a French real estate investment firm in LCIA arbitration proceedings concerning the breach of three interconnected share sale and purchase agreements, obtaining an award in favour of the client in excess of EUR 60m.
• Acting for an independent power producer in a US $30m ICC arbitration arising out of the operation and maintenance of power plant located in Karachi, Pakistan.
• Successfully acted for an IT solutions provider in two DIAC arbitrations arising out of a dispute with its joint venture partner.
• Acting for a Tunisian company in an LCIA arbitration worth approximately £7m arising out of the breach of a share purchase facility agreement.
