Tagbo’s practice covers a broad range of specialisms, with a focus on Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, General Crime, and Public & Regulatory Law. In his regulatory law work he has amassed experience in a variety of maritime matters, advising the Maritime and Coastguard Agency both independently and as a led junior.

Tagbo was called to the bar in 2019 following a career in medicine during which he worked as a junior doctor in a number of medical and surgical specialities, taught anatomy and embryology to undergraduate medical students, and acquired a doctorate in Developmental Biology.

Practice notes

This Practice Note provides a snapshot of some of the key provisions in the Fisheries Act 2020 (FiA 2020). This includes details on objectives and planning of fisheries management including joint fisheries statements (JFS), fisheries management plans (FMP), quotas, duty to consult, effect of the plans and reviews of the statements and plans. It also provides details on the licensing of fishing activities focussing on obligations, offences, discard prevention charging schemes, access to British waters by foreign boats, penalties and the licensing authorities. In addition, the Practice Note provides details on further powers of the Secretary of State and devolved governments and financial assistance. There is also guidance on increased research and conservation and expansion of the Marine and Coastal Act 2009 and greater protection for seals. The Practice Note finally considers Brexit and the UK’s new international fisheries relationships, focussing on the EU-UK Trade and Co-operation Agreement and some additional Fisheries Agreements with Norway, the Faroes, Greenland, Iceland and Svalbard.
