Gisèle Stephens-Chu
Gisèle Stephens-Chu is an Avocate à la Cour (Paris Bar) and Solicitor-Advocate with over 17 years’ experience in international arbitration and cross-border dispute resolution. She has acted in ad hoc and institutional arbitrations under a wide range of rules (e.g., LCIA, ICC, ICSID, SCC, CAM, AFA, UNCITRAL or CCJA Rules) and applicable laws, as well as appearing before the French and English courts in both arbitration and general commercial matters.
Skilled in resolving the most complex disputes, Gisèle is recognised for her strong commercial and client focus. Her experience spans many industry sectors (including aerospace, automotive, construction, financial services, food, healthcare, logistics, media, mining, oil & gas, power, technology and telecoms) and jurisdictions, with a particular focus on Anglophone and Francophone Africa and Europe.
Before founding Stephens Chu Dispute Resolution, a Paris-based disputes boutique firm, Gisèle was Counsel in the international arbitration group of a major international law firm.
Gisèle is recognised by Who’s Who Legal: Arbitration 2022 as “a meticulous, knowledgeable and very able counsel” and “a brilliant advocate”. She has published in leading journals and spoken at conferences around the world, as well as teaching seminars at Université Paris II Panthéon Assas and on other academic programs.
In addition to her counsel work, Gisèle serves as arbitrator and is a CEDR-accredited mediator.
