Abimbola Johnson
Abimbola’s practice focusses on serious crime, professional discipline and inquiry work. Often appearing in the most serious and complex cases and in cases with Public, Administrative and Human Rights Law issues.
Abimbola is a persuasive advocate with a keen eye for detail and a tenacious approach to legal argument.
Abimbola has been regularly led and appeared alone in serious, complex, multi-handed criminal cases. Her criminal practice straddles the full spectrum of crime from gang related murders, to complex fraud cases.
Abimbola also practices in professional discipline, predominantaly in Healthcare Tribunals.
Recent Inquiry Work has included being instructed as part of the Aftermath Team in the Grenfell Public Inquiry and as part of the evidence review team in the Dame Linda Dobbs Inquiry.
She was a future leader finalist [D&I] in the Chambers UK awards in 2020.
Selected by the National Police Chiefs Council last August, Johnson chairs the independent board overseeing and scrutinising police action on race and inclusion. She and six soon-to-be-recruited board members face the daunting task of addressing the historical disparities and confidence gap between Black people and the police.
