This Practice Note provides a summary of the various types of environmental searches and investigations available, including desktop screening reports, phase I investigation reports and audits (walkovers and site surveys), phase 2 site investigation reports, enquiries of the regulator, remediation reports, radioactive contaminated land reports, flood risk assessments (FRA) and flooding reports, sustainable drainage (SuDs) reports, air quality reports, asbestos surveys, ecological survey and risk assessment, environmental impact assessment (EIA), planning reports, highways reports, utilities reports, energy performance certificates (EPC), archaeological and built heritage reports, acoustic, noise and vibration reports, ordnance assessments, mining and ground instability, Mining Remediation Authority (formerly Coal Authority) and brine reports and mould surveys. It was produced in partnership with Argyll Environmental and is part of a series of notes on site investigations.
