In prize competitions, might there be a breach of the Gambling Act 2005, the CAP Code or any other laws in circumstances where the word 'lottery' or 'raffle' is used on the name of the prize competition, or forms part of the name of the competition or the promoter? The Advertising Standards Authority advises that the closing date cannot change except in unavoidable circumstances. If the maximum number of tickets has been reached, can the draw be closed earlier? Also, can the promoter have a 'minimum number of tickets sold' for a competition, meaning that if the minimum number is not reached the draw will not take place?
