Walsh Solicitors is a comprehensive private client practice, providing a wide range of legal services to clients across Stockport, Macclesfield, and Blackburn. The firm has exceptional client relationships, specialising in civil & conveyancing, crime, and family law, but covering all aspects of private client work.
The firm currently subscribes to the Family and Private Client modules of Lexis+, primarily utilising the vast bank of forms and precedents to help streamline its creation of legal documents. We spoke to Terence Walsh, Solicitor and Director of Walsh Solicitors, to find out why the firm chose Lexis+.
Superior practical guidance
The firm primarily uses Lexis+ to take advantage of the wide array of templates, for preparing new legal documents and updating their own internal bank of precedents.
They were particularly impressed with the quality and variety of even niche templates, as compared to some of the alternative products available in the market, with Terence saying, “The templates and the precedents which you have on the private client work are far superior, with more choices available.”
“In fact, the main reason why we went for Lexis+ is that it provided the combination of both legal research and excellent templates.”
Saving time with an all-in-one legal resource
While the firm mainly uses the vast selection of practical guidance templates available in Lexis+, Terence recounts that one of the deciding factors when choosing the product was that it also provides a valuable legal research resource within the same space, “In fact, the main reason why we went for Lexis+ is that it provided the combination of both legal research and excellent templates.”
The ability to have a trusted resource at his fingertips helps to improve efficiency within the firm for relatively little cost, as Terence explains, “The cost is very minimal when you think about the time savings. I think it just streamlines things and makes it a bit more professional.”
Improving client relationships
Another outstanding feature of Lexis+ for the firm is the selection of Client Guides. These essentially set out various areas of law for clients and any related procedures – in layman's language, without the use of legalese. Terence describes how they provide value to the firm, “The Client Guides are very good and I think they have helped with efficiency as a firm. We routinely hand these out to clients in reception.” As well as handing them out to clients, the firm also uses the content contained in these guides when updating their client care letters.
“I want clients to be able to go away and have a think – that's just how we are as a firm – and it's great that we have these booklets now, so that clients can take them away.”
The result? Better conversation rates
In terms of the return on investment of a Lexis+ subscription, Terence notes that the firm has seen an uptake in conversion rates due their use of Client Guides at initial client meetings. Providing this material in the form of booklets for potential clients to take home and read at their leisure, has resulted in more business for the firm.
As Terence says, “I want clients to be able to go away and have a think – that's just how we are as a firm – and it's great that we have these booklets now, so that clients can take them away. This results in clients coming back to us – and I think we've got a better conversion rate compared to just having an initial meeting, all down to the Client Guides.”
