Chris Benn is Legal Counsel at JD Sports Fashion plc and supports the business with procuring IT services and other services more generally, compliance with data protection laws, brand protection and corporate transactions. He is experienced in advising customers and suppliers on the licensing, provision and procurement of technology products and services, and those seeking to comply with data protection legislation. He is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (Europe).
Chris graduated in June 2013 from Aston University with a first class LLB honours degree in Law with Management. During the third year of his undergraduate degree, he worked as legal intern at UBS Global Asset Management. After graduating, Chris undertook a full-time training contract in-house with BT over three years; studying the LPC part-time on weekends during the first two years and achieved a distinction in July 2015. He spent the final seven months of his training contract in Hong Kong advising BT’s EMEA division, before qualifying in August 2016 and moving to join Kemp Little; a boutique technology and media specialist law firm (acquired by Deloitte Legal in February 2021). Since qualification, he has spent over four years working in private practice, including at international law firms Pinsent Masons and Fieldfisher, before returning to work in-house.
