I specialise in planning, compulsory purchase and public law, including local government and environment law. I am a former Chairman of the Planning and Environment Bar Association and sit as a Deputy High Court Judge in the Administrative Court (as well as being a Recorder of the Crown Court, authorised to sit at the Old Bailey). As a Deputy High Court Judge I regularly deal with planning cases. I am listed by Chambers & Partners as a top tier planning silk and by the Legal 500 as a leading silk in planning and environment law. 

Recent cases include Secretary of State for Transport v Curzon Park Ltd [2023] UKSC 30 (Supreme Court, compulsory purchase compensation) and R (Spitalfields Historic Buildings Trust) v London Borough of Tower Hamlets and Old Truman Brewery [2023] EWCA Civ 917 (Court of Appeal, local authorities’ power to exclude development committee members from determining planning applications).
