John Coldham

John is an experienced litigator across the spectrum of IP rights.  He has acted for Dyson in patent and design disputes including to the Court of Appeal, as well as acting on major trade mark litigation such as the Hasbro case relating to its Play Doh trade mark.  John is particularly highly regarded for his work on designs law, having acted on some of the key cases in the area such as Dyson v Vax, G-Star v Rhodi and Neptune v DeVOL.  John's litigation experience has led to reported cases at every level from the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, to the Shorter Trials Scheme, the general High Court and the Court of Appeal.  John has also acted in a successful appeal to the EU's General Court on a trade mark issue, and has obtained a number of interim injunctions, sometimes with significant urgency such as in the case of Unilever v Griffin.  Legal 500 describes John as attracting "praise for his 'practical, commercial perspective, innovative solutions to problems, and straightforward advice'".
