Commission adopts amendment to EU CRR RTS on call and put options mapped to commodity risk category

The European Commission has adopted Commission Delegated Regulation (EU) …/... of 28.1.2025 amending the regulatory technical standards laid down in Delegated Regulation (EU) 2021/931 as regards the specification of the formula for calculating the supervisory delta of call and put options mapped to the commodity risk category.

EU introduces competitiveness compass

The European Commission has introduced the competitiveness compass, a strategic framework aimed at guiding the Commission's work for the next five years, which lists priority actions to enhance Europe's competitiveness. This is the first major initiative of the Commission in this mandate. This competitiveness compass is building on the recommendations of the Draghi report on ‘The future of European competitiveness’, published in September 2024 (see: LNB News 10/09/2024 44). The initiative aspires to position Europe as a leader in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of future technologies, services, and clean products, while also achieving climate neutrality. Despite lagging behind other major economies in productivity growth over the past two decades, the EU possesses the necessary resources, including a skilled workforce, capital, savings, and a unique social infrastructure, to reverse this trend. ESMA publishes final report on proposed amendments to RTS on CCP colleges to align with EMIR 3

The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has published a final report containing draft amendments to the regulatory technical standards (RTS) on colleges for central counterparties (CCPs). These amendments align the RTS with Regulation (EU) No 2024/2987 (EMIR 3), which aims to mitigate excessive exposures to third-country CCPs and improve the efficiency of EU clearing markets.
