Laboratory pledge-holder’s agreement definition

What does Laboratory pledge-holder’s agreement mean?

A guarantee that the laboratory will retain and hold the complete original 35 mm picture negative of the film, the sound negative and all other materials deposited with, placed with, or created by the laboratory after the date of the agreement in relation to the film. The laboratory may further guarantee not to part with possession of any materials, refuse access to unauthorised persons to the material, or assert any claim to the negatives or any other material.
