Cloud computing is the shift of software or infrastructure away from the physical possession of the customer and into a shared common location controlled by a third party which is accessed by the customer through the internet or a private network. Rather than incurring capital expenditure or ongoing software licence fees, the customer pays for its usage on a subscription basis.
